2008 Black Heritage: Charles W. Chesnutt - 41 cent stamp

The 2008 USPS Black Heritage series honors Charles W. Chesnutt (1858–1932), one of America's most important early African American authors and civil rights advocates.

Chesnutt broke barriers as the first major Black fiction writer to be published by a mainstream American publisher, crafting powerful stories that exposed the injustices of racial discrimination in the post-Civil War South.
