One of the most fascinating and sought-after notes in American currency history. Joseph Walker Barr (January 17, 1918 – February 23, 1996) served as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury for only 28 days – the shortest term in history – from December 21, 1968 to January 20, 1969 when President Richard M. Nixon took office.

The 1963 B One Dollar Federal Reserve Note is the only note to bear his signature, making it a rare and mysterious piece of American monetary history. Due to the $1 bill's limited lifespan (averaging only 21 months in circulation), it is unknown how many of these notes survive today.

  • Series: 1963 B
  • Serial Number: B92891170G
  • Federal Reserve District: B – New York (District 2)
  • Signatory: Joseph W. Barr, Secretary of the Treasury
